Job summary

Fortis Fire & Safety Inc. in Orange, CA is seeking a full-time Sprinkler Fitter to install, modify, and repair fire sprinkler systems. You will interpret work specifications, ensure NFPA13 compliance, and coach apprentices while following safety policies.

The role requires 3+ years of sprinkler experience, knowledge of NFPA standards, and willingness to travel out-of-state. Valid driver’s license and the ability to read blueprints are essential; Cal Fire fitter certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of fire sprinkler installation experience.
• Knowledge of NFPA13, 25, and California Fire Code.
• Ability & willingness to travel out-of-state for business needs.
• Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Valid Cal Fire fitter certification/trainee preferred.
• Basic understanding of measurements.
• Ability to read and understand inspection reports, product specification sheets, O&M manuals, drawings, blueprints, and fire codes.
• Complete knowledge of operating various electrical and mechanical tools such as saws, wrenches, cutting torches, drills, pipe threaders, lifts, ladders, and motor vehicles.
• Ability to adhere to safety practices.
• Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Installation, modifications, and repairs of fire sprinkler systems.
• Follow safety regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
• Follow the company and industry standardized practices and/or methods.
• Fill out work tickets and submit them when work is completed.
• Prepare and maintain accurate written and electronic documentation (timesheets, work tickets, inspection reports, etc.).
• Solve practical problems and create action plans.
• Work under limited supervision.
• Train and coach fire sprinkler apprentice(s).
• Attend training, safety, and education meetings to enhance knowledge of safety concerns and resolve related issues.
