Job summary

Century Fire Protection is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Install Helper in Hickory, NC to support foremen and fitters on construction and retrofit projects. This is an entry-level position designed to learn fire sprinkler installation, safety practices, and industry standards.

You will gain hands-on experience, learn the trade, and contribute to safe, efficient project execution while adhering to OSHA requirements and company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of construction or mechanical experience preferred.
• Basic computer and email skills.
• Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist Foremen and Fitters with fire sprinkler system installation.
• Carry, stage, and organize pipe, fittings, materials, and tools.
• Cut, thread, and prepare pipe under supervision.
• Assist with pipe hanging, hangers, and sprinkler head installation.
• Support flushing, pressure testing, and system startup.
• Keep job sites clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow OSHA requirements and company safety policies.
• Participate in safety meetings and hands-on training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Job

This is an active, hands-on position requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, climbing ladders, and working at heights. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work in confined spaces and changing weather conditions is required.
