Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking an Inspector to perform building sprinkler inspections, test devices, record results, and generate reports. You will assist the Lead Inspector and Inspection Manager with data collection and paperwork such as Sprinkler Inspection Reports and Inspection Certificates.

Requirements include at least 5 years' experience with sprinkler tests, NFPA knowledge, NICET certification preferred, strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years' experience with test & inspections on fire sprinkler systems.
• College degree is preferred; however, a high school diploma or equivalent is acceptable with sufficient experience.
• Study and learn NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems.
• Stay current with code requirements, industry changes, and obtain NICET certifications.
• Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and be customer‑service oriented.
• Be able and willing to work within a team environment.
• Sprinkler experience is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in using test equipment, including sensitivity test equipment, multimeters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communication devices.
• Good networking PC skills, including use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Palm unit operating systems.
• Reliable transportation to and from the office or job site.
• Punctuality is critical due to the need to perform sound tests prior to building tenant arrivals.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all inspections are completed on a timely basis and that inspections are done accurately and thoroughly.
• Test all building sprinkler control panels, devices, and functions of the sprinkler system and enter the test results into the Palm handheld device.
• Upon completion of an inspection download the information and generate a completed Sprinkler Inspection Report.
• Participate in monthly team meetings.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
