Job description

Total Fire Protection is seeking Fire Sprinkler Fitter Apprentices to join our team and contribute to the safety and protection of lives and property. As a Fire Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice, you will be an integral part of our installation and maintenance team, learning the skills and techniques necessary to become a proficient Fire Sprinkler Fitter. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will gain hands‑on experience in the installation, inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems in commercial and residential buildings (steel, CPVC, and copper pipe)
  • Participate in the assembly and installation of piping, fittings, and fixtures for fire protection systems
  • Work closely with experienced Fire Sprinkler Fitters to understand system blueprints, specifications, and design plans
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems to ensure optimal functionality
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions or damage in fire sprinkler systems, including valves, pipes, and other components
  • Learn and apply knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fire sprinkler systems
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on projects
  • Ensure that all installations and repairs meet regulatory standards and comply with relevant codes
  • Coordinate with other construction professionals, including plumbers, electricians, and general contractors, to integrate fire sprinkler systems seamlessly into overall building plans

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and work in various physical conditions, including confined spaces and elevated areas
  • Must be safety conscious and comfortable working at high elevations, on ladders and/or powered lifts
  • The work of a sprinkler fitter and/or helper in our organization is performed on new construction sites; the ability to withstand environmental elements of high and low temperatures, rain, snow, etc. is essential as sites may not always be fully enclosed
  • Must have a high degree of awareness and adherence to safety protocols
