Job summary

Chesapeake Fire Protection is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer to develop accurate, code-compliant fire sprinkler designs for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects. You will work with project managers, engineers, architects, and field teams to turn concepts into installable plans.

Responsibilities include layouts, hydraulic calculations, shop drawings, and coordination with stakeholders. Proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit and knowledge of NFPA standards are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; technical training or degree preferred.
• 2–5 years of fire sprinkler design experience.
• Experience with commercial, industrial, or multi-family projects.
• Strong knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, hydraulics, and NFPA standards.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Create fire sprinkler system layouts, hydraulic calculations, and material specifications.
• Design systems for commercial, industrial, and multi-family projects.
• Ensure designs meet NFPA standards, local codes, and project specifications.
• Review construction drawings and coordinate with architects, engineers, and Project Managers.
• Prepare shop drawings, design submittals, and permit packages.
• Work with field teams to resolve constructability issues and design changes.
• Maintain accurate design and revision documentation.
• Participate in design reviews and quality control checks.
• Stay current with fire protection codes, standards, and industry best practices.
