Job summary

Century Fire Protection, based in Duluth, GA, seeks a Fire Protection Designer to design sprinkler systems for multiple building types. You will prepare submittals, calculate design dimensions, and support field teams with installation that minimizes errors.

Proficiency with CAD tools and HS diploma required or equivalent experience. NICET is a plus; strong detail orientation and problem solving are essential as you contribute to project design, fabrication lists, and close-out documentation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 1-3 years related experience.
• NICET Certification a plus.
• Proficiency with SprinkCad preferred, AutoCAD or HydroCAD.
• MS Office suite including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Design fire protection sprinkler systems for industrial, commercial and residential applications.
• Prepare submittal packages and obtain design approvals.
• Create fabrication lists and requisition materials.
• Perform field surveys and assist with on-site installation issues.

DIV. 6, Duluth, GASummaryResponsible for designing fire protection systems for industrial, commercial and residential applications, completing project designs and submittals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Design fire protection sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems, with accuracy and detail to enable field installation with few design errors.Submit design plans to proper department leadership for approval and obtain permits as required.Calculate figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production.Design fire protection sprinkler systems within allocated hours for each job.Review work order and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design.Prepare submittal packages and subsequent correspondence to achieve design approval.Prepare fabrication lists for pipe fabrication vendor and requisition materials for job.Perform field surveys to ensure design is appropriate for structure.Assist field personnel with design related installation issues.Prepare and submit final job close-out documents after final acceptance testing.Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
