Job summary

Qualifications

• Familiarity with NFPA standards referenced in job duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform annual maintenance/inspections of fire extinguishers.
• Determine proper type, quantity, and placement of extinguishers based on hazard.
• Exchange extinguishers requiring service or replacement of damaged units.
• Able to obtain FEL-B within 90 days.
• Perform semi-annual inspection of restaurant and industrial fire suppression systems.
• Communicate non-compliance issues to customers.
• Collaborate with customers and contractors to optimize use of extinguishers and systems.
• Develop partnerships to grow the business within the market.
• Adhere to safety guidelines for personal and team safety.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $18.00 To $23.00 Hourly

Job Summary :

The Fire Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire extinguishers . The role could expand to handle testing, inspecting, and repair ing fire suppression systems (Kitchen Hoods, Paint Booth, etc.).

Essential Job Functions :

• Perform a nnual maintenance/inspections of fire extinguishers.
• Determine proper type, quantity, and placement of fire extinguishers based on hazard/occupancy classification.
• Exchange fire extinguishers that require service; replace obsolete/damaged units.
• Able to obtain a FEL-B within 90 days.
• Perform s emi- a nnual inspection of restaurant and industrial fire suppression systems.
• Communicate to the customer any non-compliance issues.
• Collaborate with customers, contractors, and other team members to ensure efficient and effective use of fire extinguishers and possibly fire suppression systems.
• Build and develop partnerships that will grow the business within the industry m arketplace .
• Adhere to safety guidelines and practices, both for personal safety and the safety of others.
• Performs other related duties as assigned .

Experience & Qualifications :

• High School Diploma or GED required . Certifications or training in fire extinguisher and fire suppression systems is strongly preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience with hand/power tools.
• Knowledge of basic electricity and the ability to read electrical schematic diagrams.
• Proven experience working as a portable fire extinguisher and/or fire suppression technician.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting NFPA standards (10, 17, 17a, 96), and technical manuals (Ansul, Amerex, CaptiveAire , etc.)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers and team members.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Maintain a v alid driver's license and ability to pass a drug and background check.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear and have full use of hands. The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to wor k from a ladder, and in some case, a man-lift.
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and travel daily.
