Job summary

The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is recruiting an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to serve in the Fire Service. This intermittent appointment is not to exceed 2 years and requires meeting qualification standards by 11/09/2026.

Eligible applicants must have one year of specialized EMT experience (GS-6 level) or education substitute, plus SPF requirements: EMT license, BLS certification, and a valid driver’s license. Transcript documentation is required.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-6 in EMT.
• Education may substitute for the required experience by completing one year of graduate education in a related field.
• Combination of education and experience may be used with documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency medical care and patient assessment in the Fire Service.
• Operate emergency vehicles and emergency medical equipment.
• Relay information to dispatchers and health care providers during emergencies.
