Job summary

Central Oregon Community College is seeking an Instructional Assistant for the Structure Fire Science program. Assistants support the primary instructor in labs, answer student questions, and help ensure safety.

Duties include preparing lab exercises, conducting field layouts, maintaining equipment, data entry, and helping with assessment. A high school diploma or GED and one year of coursework in Structure Fire Science are required; COCC values teaching experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; coursework in Structure Fire Science preferred.
• One year of coursework in Structure Fire Science or related field.
• Teaching or lab instruction experience preferred.
• Ability to operate AV equipment and basic lab tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist the primary course instructor in labs and ensure safety.
• Answer student questions and grade lab quizzes/assignments.
• Develop or assist in lab and lecture exercises and curriculum.
• Perform data entry and analysis of lab data.
• Plan field lab layouts and equipment check-in/out.
