Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a related field and 4 years of related experience required.
• Strong knowledge of fire science, codes, and hazardous materials.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and report writing.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with plan review, investigations, and evidentiary procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains regular and timely attendance at work.
• Answers phone calls and emails; responds to call-outs within 30 minutes.
• Enforces fire and environmental regulations countywide.
• Performs plan reviews and conducts complex fire investigations.
• Takes photographs and secures evidence related to investigations.
• Interviews individuals and prepares detailed reports with charts/graphs.
• Assists with prosecutions and coordination with prosecutors.
• Coordinates with regulatory agencies on environmental and fire investigations.
• Plans and conducts fire prevention education programs for the public.
• Inspects structures to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Maintains certifications and monitors changes in laws and regulations.
• Generates reports on duties performed and participates in emergency management.
