State of Michigan is seeking Fire Safety Inspectors to ensure facilities and institutions comply with fire safety codes across state properties. The role focuses on the Lansing region, with potential support to other areas as needed.
Candidates must hold Michigan Fire Inspector certification or NFPA Certified Fire Inspector I, and possess a high school diploma. Experience levels vary by rank, and a valid driver's license is required where applicable.
Employees in this job serve as fire safety inspectors ensuring that state facilities, institutions, and businesses located in the state are in compliance with the applicable fire safety codes and standards as well as various state laws, rules, and regulations. This position primarily covers the following territory- LANSING Region. This position may be asked to assist in other areas as needed.

Possession of Michigan Fire Inspector certification or National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Certified Fire Inspector I credentials is required for E10 and 11 positions.

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Three years of experience as a fire fighter, law enforcement officer, or corrections officer.
Two years of experience equivalent to a Fire Safety Inspector 9.
Three years of experience equivalent to a Fire Safety Inspector, including one year equivalent to a Fire Safety Inspector E10.
