Job summary

City of Hampton Fire and Rescue seeks a Recruitment professional to develop and implement outreach for volunteer Fire and EMS recruitment. The role includes arranging speaking engagements and presenting at community events to boost the department's visibility and volunteer applications.

You will coordinate events, maintain recruitment databases, and collaborate with community partners while assisting with pre-employment checks and scheduling training as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or successful completion of the GED; preferably supplemented with college courses in Business Administration, Public Administration, Marketing, Human Resources, or other related field of study.
• Requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in recruitment.
• A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
• Requires proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and presentation software.
• Knowledge of recruitment processes and vendor coordination is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment activities for volunteer Fire & EMS personnel.
• Assist with recruiting career Fire Division employees as needed.
• Support pre-employment processes, including background checks, physical assessments, and drug testing.
• Maintain recruitment records and databases.
• Develop flyers, brochures, and other promotional materials.
• Update recruitment information on the Fire Division website.
• Represent Hampton Fire & Rescue at community events, career fairs, and public speaking engagements.
• Build partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and professional groups.
• Prepare reports, correspondence, and presentations.
• Assist with scheduling volunteer Fire and EMS training.
• Respond to inquiries from applicants, volunteers, staff, and the public.
