Job summary

City of Hampton is hiring Certified VA Firefighter I & II and EMT, AEMT, EMT-I, EMT-P to join our Fire and Rescue Division. We seek passionate, professional individuals committed to serving a vibrant waterfront community and meeting Virginia retirement benefits and flexible work opportunities.

You will respond to alarms, perform firefighting and emergency medical duties, maintain equipment and facilities, and participate in training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least 18 years old.
• Virginia Firefighter I & II certification and EMT-level certification (EMT, AEMT, EMT-I, or EMT-P).
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Must pass medical standards, agility test, background check, and polygraph.
• Ability to communicate clearly, work under pressure, and operate fire/EMS equipment.

Responsibilities

• Responds to fire alarms and emergency calls; lays hose and directs water streams.
• Provides emergency medical care; transports patients by ambulance.
• Maintains apparatus, station, and grounds; inspects equipment.
• Participates in drills on hydraulics, pump operation, and firefighting techniques.
• Drives fire apparatus and EMS vehicles; communicates status by radio.
• Performs safety inspections and duties as assigned.
