Job summary

Brevard County Fire Rescue Department seeks an experienced vehicle mechanic to maintain and repair diesel and gasoline Fire Rescue vehicles and related equipment. You will service mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pumping, drivetrain systems and components, with a Monday–Friday schedule and potential evenings or weekends as needed.

Five years of diesel/gasoline experience, two in heavy equipment and fire pump work are required; a valid Florida Class B CDL is required or must be obtained.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible experience working on diesel and gasoline equipment, including two years in heavy equipment and fire pump mechanics.
• Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s license and maintain it during employment. ASE and EVT certifications are preferred.
• In event of hurricane, major storm, or disaster threats the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled crafts and trades work in maintenance and repair of diesel and gasoline Fire Rescue vehicles and related equipment: mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pumping, drivetrain systems and components.
• Work schedule Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Must handle planned and unplanned overtime and on‑call duty.

$26.14 hourly. Salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Cocoa/Travels Countywide. Work schedule Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., includes evenings, weekends, holidays. Must handle planned and unplanned overtime and on‑call duty. Requirements
