Job summary

gpac is seeking a Fire Protection Technician to support fire sprinkler systems for commercial and industrial facilities across Wisconsin. This on-site role emphasizes hands-on fieldwork, compliance with fire codes, and reliable operation of life-safety systems.

You will inspect, test, maintain, and service wet/dry/pre‑action/deluge sprinkler systems, troubleshoot deficiencies, and coordinate with customers and internal teams while maintaining a strong safety mindset in occupied facilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience with fire protection or life safety systems in commercial/industrial settings.
  • Knowledge of fire protection codes and inspection standards.
  • Interest in special hazard systems preferred.
  • NICET or state licensing preferred but not required with strong experience.
  • Union member or willing to join a union-covered role.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, maintain, and service fire sprinkler systems (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge).
  • Troubleshoot deficiencies and perform repairs or modifications.
  • Support maintenance of special hazard suppression systems (e.g., clean agent).
  • Perform work per fire codes, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Complete inspection reports and deficiency notices accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and communicate findings to customers.
  • Maintain a strong safety mindset in active or mission-critical facilities.

About The Role

We’re seeking a Fire Protection Technician to support comprehensive fire protection services in commercial and industrial facilities throughout Wisconsin. The Fire Protection Technician will work on a variety of life safety systems, with a strong emphasis on fire sprinkler systems and exposure to special hazard suppression systems in more complex environments.

The ideal candidate enjoys hands‑on fieldwork, understands the importance of compliance and reliability, and takes pride in maintaining systems that protect people, property, and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inspection, testing, maintenance, and service on fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre‑action, and deluge systems
  • Troubleshoot system deficiencies and complete necessary repairs or modifications
  • Support service and maintenance of special hazard fire suppression systems such as clean agent or foam-based systems
  • Execute work in accordance with applicable fire codes, standards, and safety requirements
  • Complete inspection reports, service documentation, and deficiency notices accurately and on time
  • Coordinate with internal service teams and communicate clearly with customers on system status and findings
  • Maintain a strong safety mindset while working in active, occupied, or mission‑critical facilities
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in fire protection, fire sprinkler, or life safety systems within commercial or industrial settings
  • Working knowledge of fire protection codes and inspection standards
  • Experience with or interest in special hazard systems strongly preferred
  • Relevant certifications (NICET, state licensing, or similar) preferred but not required if experience is strong
  • Union member or open to joining a union-covered role
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally
