Job summary

EMCOR Group, Inc. is seeking a Fire Protection Technician to perform inspection, testing, repairs, and service calls for fire protection systems, including alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers and emergency lighting.

NFPA knowledge and relevant certifications are required. The role involves teamwork within a larger Facility Maintenance group, meeting deadlines, communicating with management, and providing timely follow-up with customers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational or trade school is a plus.
  • NFPA knowledge as per the listed standards (NFPA 25 2023; NFPA 20, 72, 291 2022).
  • NICET Level II Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems required.
  • Backflow Test and Repair Certification required.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Perform fire protection system inspection, testing, repair, and service call activity. Needs include fire alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers, emergency lighting, etc. Knowledge of NFPA standards and procedures required. The Fire Protection Technician will work as a part of fire life and safety team on a larger Facility Maintenance team. Abilities to complete work on time, work as part of a team, communicate with manager, and follow-up with customer are critical.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Test and inspect facility fire safety systems as part of preventive maintenance program
  • Write and provide inspection/service reports on tested equipment and devices. Indicate any deficiencies or corrections that need to be made.
  • Assist in testing, maintaining, and performing light repairs on the fire sprinkler system
  • Learn the fire protection control system to provide service calls as needed.
  • Complete all work orders and reports thoroughly and on time
  • Interact with customers in professional manner; follow-up communication with customer is critical
  • Perform/participate in "after-hours" emergency call rotation
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required, vocational or industry trade school is a plus.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and customers
  • Knowledge of NFPA 25 2023 and the 2022 editions of NFPA 20, NFPA 72, and NFPA 291
  • Must have Backflow Test and Repair Certification
  • Must have NICET Level II Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems.
  • Must have 4 or more years of experience in all fire sprinkler systems (wet, dry, deluge, and pre-action)
  • Willing to support training/development for entry-level candidates.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 75lbs on a regular basis
  • Basic mechanical skills are required
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
