Fire Protection - Service Layout Technician

Job Title: Service Layout Technician

Design fire protection systems for industrial, commercial, and residential projects. Use AutoCAD/HydraCad to create layouts, perform hydraulic calculations, and prepare pipe lists for pre-fabrication. Must be organized, efficient, and collaborate well with the design team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Complete sprinkler drawings per NFPA standards.
• Identify building construction types and hazards.
• Work within project budgets and coordinate with other trades on non-complex projects.
• Design projects, including pipe cutting and material selection.
• Operate AutoCAD and coordinate sprinkler components.
• Conduct field surveys and develop project documentation.
• Ensure quality standards and develop material submittals.
• Complete project paperwork, identify contract scope, troubleshoot, and order materials.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Stay compliant with fire codes, including NFPA 13.
• Lead projects, direct team members, and report to the Service Manager.
• Collaborate with other departments and adhere to safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of fire protection design experience.
• Mechanical aptitude and proficiency in AutoCAD, Hydratec CAD, and stock listing programs.
• NICET certification is a plus.
