Job summary

Houston Fire & Security, a full-service fire protection company in Humble, TX, is seeking a reliable Fire Protection Sales/Estimator. The role involves estimating and preparing proposals for fire alarm and low voltage systems, performing takeoffs, and coordinating with vendors and subcontractors.

The candidate should have a High School diploma or equivalent, at least 5 years in design or estimating in the fire alarm industry, and strong knowledge of NFPA/NEC codes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in design or estimating in the fire alarm industry.
• Familiarity with NFPA and NEC codes is expected.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Estimate and prepare proposals for fire alarm and low voltage systems.
• Lay out bids, perform material takeoffs, and obtain vendor pricing.
• Perform basic calculations and code research.
• Review RFPs, specifications, designs to determine scope and required contents of estimates.
• Prepare fire alarm system take-offs.
• Solicit subcontractor bids and vendor quotes.
• Assemble estimating spreadsheets and support other departments as needed.
• Estimate small to medium sized projects independently.
• Read and interpret general drawings and specifications.

Whether it's a mid-rise commercial or high-rise commercial building, we provide regularly scheduled fire protection inspections and maintenance to maintain the optimal functionality of your system.

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Fire Protection Sales/ Estimator to join our team within the area! If you are self-motivated, skilled, good soled, work hard, and a team player – you have found your match within our company.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Estimating and preparing proposals for fire alarm and low voltage systems
• Laying out bids, completing material takeoffs, and obtaining vendor pricing
• Perform basic calculations and code research
• Review RFP's, specifications, basic design and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
• Prepare fire alarm system take-offs
• Solicit subcontractor bids and vendor quotes
• Assemble estimating spreadsheets
• Support other department personnel as required
• Estimate small to medium sized projects independently
• Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, architectural, structural & mechanical drawings

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver's License.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in design or estimating in the fire alarm industry.
• Familiarity with and ability to read, interpret, and apply NFPA and NEC Code.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and estimating software.
• Ability to create basic fire alarm layouts and perform material take-offs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with ability to use independent judgement
• Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to deliver high-quality results by deadlines
• Ability to work effectively within a team as well as independently
• Able to walk construction sites and heavy industrial sites including climbing stairs and ladders
• Estimating Kitchen suppression systems and other fire protection systems a plus.
