Job summary

Bowman Consulting in Johns Creek, GA, is offering a Fire Protection Intern position to gain exposure to fire protection engineering across commercial, government, academic, R&D, multi-family, and industrial projects.

Under direct supervision, you will observe design projects, participate in field testing, and help prepare construction documents while learning applicable codes and collaborating with engineers and clients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; pursuing ABET-accredited program in fire protection.
• Enrollment in ABET-accredited degree program preferred in fire protection.
• Introductory knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, CONTAM, and/or FDS modeling software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Observe and participate in fire protection design projects.
• Conduct site visits with engineers to perform flow tests.
• Document testing for sprinkler, fire alarm, and/or fire pump systems.
• Design fire protection and life-safety systems under engineer direction.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, project managers, and clients.
• Conduct field observations to document existing conditions.
• Produce project construction documents to meet schedules under supervision.
• Review project-related construction items (shop drawings, RFIs, change orders).
• Review and learn codes applicable to the discipline.
