Overview

Be part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste. Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Fire Protection Inspection Testing and Maintenance Supervisor and join our team located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the records generated by the FPE organization
  • Evaluate NFPA code IT&M changes and implement them through the procedure change process
  • Manage the inventory of tools and equipment needed to perform IT&M activities
  • Perform fire impairment coordinator responsibilities
  • Manage the ITM work on a variety of fire protection systems at a Class 2 Nuclear/Class 4 Mining facility. Work will include fire protection systems located in an underground mine and in surface facilities.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
  • Associates degree in a technical discipline plus four (4) years of technical experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent plus eight (8) years of technical experience
  • Must be able to obtain NICET Fire Protection Level Certification in Water Based Systems, Special Hazards or Alarm and Detection Systems within one (1) year of hire.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without SIMCO visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the WIPP Site (even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge).
  • Non‑U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns—including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries—are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.
Preferred Requirements
  • NICET Certification in Water Based Systems, Alarm and Detection Systems and/or Special Hazards Systems.
  • Previous WIPP Project experience is a plus.
