Description
A Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of 6 years of work experience. Must be professionally licensed in the United States.
Responsibilities/Skills:
- Perform engineering calculations, layout, and design of systems in accordance with policies, standards, procedures, and codes, exercising judgment with minimal supervision.
- Apply practical knowledge to resolve project-related problems and conflicts; capable of independent decision-making for engineering tasks.
- Supervise subordinate personnel or assist other engineers or designers occasionally.
- Knowledge of discipline-specific and building codes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills to educate clients on design and project requirements.
- Collaborate with Project Engineer and Project Manager on design scope, schedule, budget, and site issues.
- Assist in preparing design budgets and schedules.
- Estimate discipline man-hours for project completion.
- Provide leadership, assign design tasks, and supervise efforts to ensure timely and within-budget project completion.
- Implement system types as directed and produce complete construction documents matching client and project requirements.
- Review engineering designs with other disciplines for function, coordination, and final selection; perform final review of drawings.
- Maintain client contact.
- Perform quality assurance in coordination with the technical manager or project engineer.
- Mentor and motivate engineering designers.
- Maintain high standards, professional integrity, and prioritize the company's and client's best interests.
- Meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality.
