Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to provide fire protection engineering support for federal construction projects at Fort Hood, Texas.

The role serves as the subject matter expert for fire and life safety systems, including design reviews, inspections, QA, submittal reviews, acceptance testing, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration. Qualified candidates hold a PE license, a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field, and at least

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum five years of fire protection engineering experience.
  • Experience with UFC 3-600-01, NFPA standards, and fire/life safety.
  • USACE or federal project experience preferred.
  • Experience with QA, commissioning and acceptance testing.
  • Familiarity with RMS/QCS and federal construction management practices.
  • Experience reviewing fire suppression, detection, and life safety systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

  • Understand UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA standards for fire protection.
  • Attend project meetings with stakeholders to ensure proper fire protection features.
  • Perform BCOES and plan‑in‑hand reviews.
  • Conduct inspections per contract docs.
  • Evaluate work practices to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Prepare technical reports identifying deficiencies and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance on facility design and fire protection systems.
  • Serve as fire-safety consultant to project Managers and government personnel.
  • Review contractor submittals and provide comments.
  • Respond to RFIs and review field changes.
  • Schedule and conduct final acceptance testing of fire systems.
  • QA oversight and documenting findings.
