Job summary
Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking Fire Protection Engineers to oversee fire protection work for plutonium and nuclear facilities. The role provides SME guidance, reviews designs, inspects construction, and manages fire hazards and risks.
Positions available at Nuclear Facilities Engineer 2 or 3, with duties including program implementation, leadership of staff, and liaison with management and external agencies. A strong emphasis on DOE standards and security clearances is noted.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to perform detailed technical reviews of facility design documents and provide actionable comments.
- Advanced experience communicating compliance concerns to management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.
- Expert experience in design or plans review of fire protection and life safety features; assessing hazards and risks.
Responsibilities
- Provide SME technical support for fire protection and life safety; conduct plan reviews and approvals; oversee testing and maintenance of systems.
- Review and develop DOE directives, codes, and exemptions; assess proposed activities for compliance.
- Mentor junior engineering staff and lead technical teams on protection programs.
