Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in fire protection, mechanical, chemical, civil engineering or closely related field with significant fire protection coursework.
• Experience in building construction and fire protection (minimum 3 years).
• Proven ability to review plans, apply codes and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural plans for Seattle Fire Code and Building Code compliance.
• Perform technical reviews of fire protection systems and calculations.
• Use Accela and BlueBeam to locate plan submittals and annotate corrections.
• Record project information in the Fire Department review database.
• Advise inspectors on complex or unusual field inspections.
• Provide code guidance to department, public, and professionals.
• Represent the Fire Marshal in meetings with architects and contractors.
• Meet deadlines and maintain high-quality customer service.
