Job summary

Coffman Engineers seeks a Fire Protection Engineer with 3–5 years of experience to join our Westminster, CO team. You will support fire and life safety code analyses, egress evaluations, and life safety system design across multiple projects with our multi‑discipline engineering group.

The ideal candidate holds a fire protection engineering degree (or related field with relevant experience), and possesses strong communication skills, mentorship opportunities, and a collaborative office culture

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Sciences.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• EIT or having passed the FE exam with the ability to obtain EIT within one year.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (preferred).
• Must be able to obtain a US security clearance.
• Intermediate level computer skills necessary for daily activities (email, word processing, spreadsheets).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work on a highly-motivated team.

Responsibilities

• Perform fire code analysis and egress analysis.
• Design and analyze fire protection systems (suppression, detection, life safety).
• Prepare life safety plans and participate in performance-based design studies.
• Utilize AutoCAD and Revit for fire protection layouts.
• Conduct site inspections and witness life safety system testing.
