Position: Fire Protection Engineer - Federal Government Projects

Location: USA Remote (domestic travel up to 35%)

Role description:

We are looking to hire a Fire Protection Engineer to support the Places Design & Engineering group. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in facility design related to U.S. Federal Agencies. You will work directly with Fire Prevention Engineers, multidisciplinary engineers, Project Managers, and clients on federal facility design projects, leading the fire protection discipline through all project phases. This is a remote role but requires 35% domestic travel.

Responsibilities:

• Lead design teams, mentor junior staff, develop construction-ready design packages, and coordinate across disciplines. Must have advanced technical understanding of fire alarm and suppression systems, smoke control, and related equipment.
• Deep knowledge of life safety codes and standards such as NFPA, NEC, NESC, UL, UFC, and UFGS.
• Develop budgets, proposals, schedules, project and staffing plans. Build relationships with federal agencies and pursue project opportunities.
• Proficient in Revit, BIM, AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Navisworks, SpecsIntact.
• Travel for site surveys, data collection, and collaboration.
• Design fire protection systems for heavy industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and processing facilities such as water treatment plants, EV plants, lithium-ion battery plants, and data centers.

Qualifications & Experience:

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Bachelor’s in mechanical or fire protection engineering with 10-15 years of consulting experience.
• Fire Protection Professional Engineer license in the U.S.
• Experience producing IFC design packages for federal facilities.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build client relationships.
