Position - Fire Protection Engineer - Federal Government Projects

Role description:

Arcadis is looking to hire a Fire Protection Engineer to support the Places Design & Engineering group. The ideal candidate would be a Fire Protection Engineer with extensive experience in facility design related to United States Federal Agencies.

In this role, you will work directly with other Fire Prevention Engineers, Engineers of other disciplines, Project Managers, clients, etc., on Federal Agency facility design projects. You will lead the fire protection discipline of multiple concurrent projects through the pursuit, proposal, design, and construction phases.

This is a remote role but will require 35% domestic travel to service Federal clients and their projects.

Role accountabilities:
  1. Lead design teams and mentor junior staff to develop construction-ready design packages of drawings and specifications with inter-discipline coordination. The successful candidate will have an advanced technical understanding of fire alarm and suppression systems, smoke control, and other related equipment and technologies associated with this specialization.
  2. Deep knowledge of life safety codes.
  3. Knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and safety standards such as NFPA, NEC, NESC, UL, and especially federal agency standards such as UFC and UFGS.
  4. Develop budgets, proposals, schedules, project and staffing plans as well as identify, qualify and pursue potential clients and project opportunities. The ideal candidate would be well-networked with the American Federal Government Agencies.
  5. Fluency in design and modeling software that includes Revit (must have), BIM, Autodesk Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Navisworks, SpecsIntact (must have).
  6. Travel to project sites for fire protection site surveys, data collection for fire protection studies, and collaboration with client team members.
  7. Skilled in designing fire protection systems in heavy industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and processing facilities such as water and wastewater treatment sites, EV assembly plants, lithium-ion battery plants, and data centers.
Qualifications & Experience:
  1. U.S. citizenship is required for this position as part of federal employment eligibility requirements.
  2. Bachelor of Science (BS) in mechanical or fire protection engineering with at least 10 to 15 years of experience in consulting engineering and performing facility design.
  3. Fire Protection Professional Engineering Licensure in the United States (must have).
  4. Extensive experience producing IFC design packages for federal agency facilities.
  5. Strong communication skills related to presentations, project communications, and written documents.
  6. Ability to build positive relationships with internal and external team members and to develop additional project opportunities based on those relationships.

Paid holidays and PTO accrue annually. The salary range is $94,944 - $161,405, based on experience, education, and other factors.
