Position Details

Location: USA Remote (domestic travel up to 35%)

Role Description

We are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support the Places Design & Engineering group, ideally with extensive experience in facility design for U.S. Federal Agencies. The successful candidate will collaborate with Fire Prevention Engineers, multidisciplinary engineers, project managers, and clients on federal facility projects, leading the fire protection discipline through all project phases.

This role is primarily remote but requires 35% domestic travel to federal project sites. Interested candidates should apply with their resume and a brief project list.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead design teams and mentor junior staff to develop construction-ready drawings and specifications, ensuring coordination across disciplines. Must have advanced knowledge of fire alarm and suppression systems, smoke control, and related technologies.
  2. Apply deep knowledge of life safety codes and standards, including NFPA, NEC, NESC, UL, UFC, and UFGS.
  3. Develop budgets, proposals, schedules, and staffing plans; identify and pursue new project opportunities, leveraging existing relationships with U.S. Federal Agencies.
  4. Proficient in design and modeling software such as Revit, BIM, AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Navisworks, and SpecsIntact.
  5. Conduct site surveys and data collection for fire protection studies; collaborate with client teams onsite.
  6. Design fire protection systems for industrial, commercial, and manufacturing facilities, including treatment plants, EV and battery manufacturing, and data centers.
Qualifications & Experience
  1. U.S. citizenship required.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering; 10-15 years of consulting and facility design experience.
  3. Licensed Professional Engineer in the U.S. (Fire Protection).
  4. Experience producing IFC design packages for federal facilities.
  5. Strong communication skills for presentations, project documentation, and client interactions.
  6. Ability to build positive relationships with team members and develop new project opportunities.
