Job summary

Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer in West Milton, NY. The role focuses on fire protection design reviews, life safety integration, and commissioning activities across building projects for federal clients.

Responsibilities include evaluating hydrants, alarms, and passive barriers; ensuring code compliance; and coordinating with design teams to resolve issues before occupancy. Domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Active DOE clearance or DOD equivalent required.
• Solid understanding of passive fire protection barriers (walls, barriers, partitions, doors, dampers).
• Solid understanding of automatic sprinkler systems design, hydraulics, and testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform fire protection design reviews for new buildings and renovations.
• Evaluate fire protection and life safety features for code compliance (IBC, IFC, NFPA).
• Review calculations, layouts, and system configurations for performance and maintainability.
• Develop or review commissioning/test plans for fire protection systems.
• Document findings and track corrective actions to closure.
• Provide guidance to project teams and ensure readiness for service and occupancy.
