About Us

CEMS Engineering Inc. is a 30-year-old small business providing multidisciplinary A/E services, including Architecture, Civil, Electrical, Fire Protection, Structural, and Fire Protection engineering.

Position

We are seeking a Fire Protection Engineer experienced in all aspects of fire protection engineering. Responsibilities include designing and laying out building fire suppression and fire alarm/mass notification systems, as well as conducting building code/life safety analyses. The candidate will complete design calculations, plans, and specifications on a variety of complex projects under the supervision of a Sr. Fire Protection Engineer. Strong technical knowledge and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and take initiative.

Job Location:

This position is based in our Summerville, SC office, approximately 20 minutes from downtown Charleston.

Minimum Qualifications

• Understanding of NFPA codes and standards, especially NFPA 13, NFPA 72, and NFPA 101
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) Revit
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• At least 2 years designing fire suppression and fire alarm/mass notification systems
• Strong communication skills
• Passing the Fundamentals Exam

Desired Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a related field
• Professional Engineering License (NCEES FPE Exam) preferred
• Experience with federal government and Department of Defense projects, including COE and NAVFAC
