Job Description

DUTIES (SPECIFIC FOR THE POSTING)

Provide design engineering staff augmentation support. Primary responsibilities include engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development, and the creation of design output documents such as Location Plans, Connection Diagrams, Conduit / Block Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Panel Detail Drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, and Battery Loading Calculations, all in accordance with consensus codes and standards. Provide technical support to site construction teams, start-up and testing personnel, suppliers, or subcontractors. Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of Work, Procurement and Design Build Specifications, and Purchase Requisitions.

Required Qualifications: Education & Experience

Education: Ph.D. in applicable science or engineering discipline with 5+ years of experience, OR a Master's degree with 8+ years of experience, OR a Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience.

Education (Specific for the Posting):

  • Graduate of an ABET-accredited Fire Protection Engineering program, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline with at least one of the following:
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Fire Protection, OR
  • Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) NICET Level III/IV certification in Fire Alarm, Detection, and Signaling, OR
  • Professional or Fellow Member in the SFPE

Experience/Skills:

Candidate must demonstrate ten (10) years of recent design experience, including at least four (4) years in Fire Alarm, Detection, and Signaling Design. Must have general knowledge of electrical/control systems, connection diagrams, layout plans, logic diagrams, panel layout details, P&ID's, and battery loading calculations.

Additional skills required:

  • Working knowledge of NFPA Codes and Standards, and Consensus Codes such as NFPA 13, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 90A, NFPA 101, IBC, and various ISA and IEEE standards.
  • Experience with 2D MicroStation CAD software.
  • Proficiency in Windows Microsoft Office applications.
