Qualifications

  • Proven experience overseeing fire protection designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects.
  • Experience with AIA MasterSpec is a plus.
  • Knowledge of fire protection engineering principles for buildings.
  • Proven experience overseeing fire protection designs and specs.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Develop fire protection design in support of various building projects.
  • Lead the planning, design, and commissioning of fire protection systems.
  • Coordinate with other support disciplines and regional offices.
  • Produce construction drawings using BIM design software.
  • Ensure QA/QC plans are followed and deadlines met.

Job description

Fire Protection Engineer

As part of the Buildings Group for Garver, this Fire Protection Engineer will be responsible for developing fire protection design in support of various Buildings Business Line projects. Specifically, the role includes leading the planning, design, and commissioning of:

  • Building fire protection systems
  • Building fire suppression systems
  • Building fire alarm systems

Additionally, this role includes coordination with other support disciplines, coordination with regional offices, assisting project managers in project management, following quality assurance and quality control plans, and periodic travel to project sites.

Abilities and Attributes
  • Knowledge of fire protection, suppression, and alarm principles
  • Mentor and train technical staff
  • Interfacing with clients on project design, delivery, and construction
  • Managing project budget and schedule compliance
  • Overseeing the fire protection design of building projects throughout the project lifecycle from the conceptual phase, design phase, and construction phase
  • Utilizing BIM design software to produce construction drawings
  • Using software based calculation tools for design calculations
  • Managing multiple assignments concurrently
  • Being responsible for time management and product quality
  • Following Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plans
  • Being responsible for continuing education and learning based on project needs, as well as overall needs of the team
Requirements
