Role Overview

Fire Protection Engineers (FPEs) protect lives and property by planning and designing engineering projects that prevent fires and minimize their impact. They design fire protection systems, recommend materials and equipment, analyze fire behavior, and model safety features. FPEs also prepare design documents, perform inspections, and ensure systems meet codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Design fire suppression, detection, alarm, and smoke control systems.
• Perform calculations and support design decisions.
• Prepare engineering designs, drawings, and reports.
• Ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Coordinate with other professionals and support construction activities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of building and fire codes, NFPA standards.
• Experience with fire protection systems and modeling software.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Revit, AutoCAD; experience with Fire Dynamics Simulator, Contam, Pathfinder is a plus.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• 4-10 years of relevant experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) or working towards it.
