Job Description

Coffman Engineers is seeking a highly motivated Fire Protection Engineer with zero to three years of experience to join our team of professionals. Our office is willing to train the right individual in this growing discipline.

You will support our Fire Protection Department by providing services such as: automatic suppression system design; fire detection, alarm, and mass notification system design; code analysis; egress analysis; fire-resistant construction analysis; smoke control analysis; as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering from an accredited college or university, with a fire protection-specific degree required.
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) (preferred).
  • 0-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with the current versions of AutoCAD and Revit (preferred).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Required Duties and Skills:

  • Proficiency in computer skills necessary for daily activities, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, simple graphics, and computer-aided drafting.
  • Managing day-to-day contacts with internal and external clients, utilizing experience and technology to meet expectations.
  • Performing research and documentation for internal and external distribution.
  • Analyzing existing fire protection systems and designing new systems, including suppression, detection, fire alarm, and mass notification systems.
  • Building and fire code analysis and interpretation.
