Job description

Job Description

Coffman Engineers is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer with three to five years of experience who is passionate about their craft, wants to work on a high-functioning team, and is looking for an environment that promotes professional growth. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a desire to work and grow with a multidisciplinary engineering team, and be willing to have fun.

You will provide clients with automatic suppression system design, fire detection, alarm and mass notification system design, life-safety code analysis, egress analysis, fire-resistant construction analysis, smoke control analysis, and special inspections, as well as general fire protection and life safety concepts and research.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in engineering or related science from an accredited university
  • Fire Protection specific degree (preferred)
  • 3-5 years of professional AEC consulting experience
  • PE license desired; EIT with ability to obtain PE and/or CFPS
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit (preferred)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Required Duties and Skills:

  • Participate in local and national professional organizations such as SFPE and NFPA
  • Perform building and fire code analysis and interpretations
  • Provide peer reviews of colleagues’ work
  • Develop an area of expertise within fire protection engineering
  • Design new fire protection systems and analyze existing systems
  • Aim to advance to senior engineer or project manager roles
  • Basic computer skills including email, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and knowledge of CAD, Revit, and fire dynamic simulation tools
  • Perform other assigned duties
  • Provide consulting services utilizing fire protection engineering concepts
