Job summary

AHA Consulting Engineers, Inc. in Burlington, MA is seeking a Fire Protection Designer to join our multi-discipline firm.

You will coordinate design layouts, prepare studies, and produce schematics for fire protection and alarm systems. You will interact with clients, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction; must have a Bachelor’s in engineering or related field, proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in engineering, architecture, or related discipline.
Skillful use and understanding of Autodesk Revit/AutoCAD design software.
Ability to read blueprints, construction drawings, and engineering drawings.
High degree of analytical skill and ability.
Must have valid driver’s license in good standing.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and complete design layouts for fire alarm and fire protection systems, system specifications, and equipment selection.
Prepare engineering studies, scope of work narratives, and due diligence reports for fire alarm and fire protection systems and analyze operation of existing systems.
Produce sketches and system schematics for complex design tasks such as layout of fire pump rooms and fire command centers in high-rise buildings.
Perform sprinkler system hydraulic calculations using HydraCalc software.
Review Contractor’s shop drawings for Contract and Code compliance.
Perform site surveys and inspections for existing systems and conditions.
