Job summary

Shambaugh & Son is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer to design Fire Protection Systems for a wide range of projects. You will craft layouts with AutoCAD and HydraCAD, generate hydraulic calculations, and prepare pipe lists for pre-fabrication on onsite jobs.

The role requires experience in fire protection design, BIM modeling, and a strong ability to read complex contract drawings. Willingness to work extended hours and weekends may apply.

Qualifications

• Associate or Technical Degree in a technical or business discipline preferred or equivalent experience.
• Fire Protection design experience preferred.
• NICET certification preferred.
• AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Hydratec experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
• Excellent communicator, self-motivated individual with great organizational skills.
• Only applicants who possess the minimum qualifications will be considered.
• Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Shambaugh is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer who will design Fire Protection Systems for all types of projects. You will design layouts using AutoCAD/HydraCAD and create hydraulic calculations and pipe lists for pre-fabrication.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for designing and the layout of Fire Sprinkler systems


• Read, analyze and interpret contract documents, including all disciplines of construction drawings and specifications


• Write, plan, coordinate, and make presentations to individuals and groups


• Work with and comprehend mathematical concepts including hydraulic calculations and project cost analysis


• Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction


• Provide fire sprinkler designs with AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and AutoSPRINK


• Responsible for BIM modeling and field surveying


• Provide lists for fabrication and coordinate between the trades


• Other duties as assigned
