Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a CAD Designer to design fire alarm systems and related low voltage designs for commercial, healthcare, industrial, educational, and residential projects.

You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, sales teams, and field personnel to develop code-compliant layouts, riser diagrams, device placement drawings, and submittal packages. A two-year degree is preferred with CAD experience and NICET II or higher preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-year degree in related field preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience utilizing CAD software.
• Minimum 2 years working in a professional environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed fire alarm system and low voltage designs and construction drawings for commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, and residential projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, sales teams, and field personnel to develop code-compliant fire alarm system layouts, riser diagrams, device placement drawings, and submittal packages.
• Follow all OSHA standards and laws, submit drawings for approval to the AHJ, and attend regular development meetings.
• Address limitations of technologies and materials involved in the CAD process.
• Incorporate feedback into 3D model designs.
• Make revisions to models as requested.
• Keep up to date on all modern advancement in material and software technologies.
• Pursue ongoing education in the field.
• Utilize large databases of material property information to best select materials for modeling.
• Re-create new (MEP) and structural drawings under existing conditions for design coordination.
• Read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
• Provide accurate electrical schematics per client conditions and analyze and track technical specifications including dimensions, arrangements, and installation procedures.
