Job summary

Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is seeking a Fire Prevention Technician to support the Safety and Fire Prevention Section by reducing risk to the building and occupants. The role involves identifying hazards using Authority policies, codes, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities include inspecting show areas for hazards, issuing Hot Work permits, managing equipment registrations, and performing monthly fire extinguisher and sprinkler inspections.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of related Fire Science/Safety experience.
• Knowledge of fire prevention methodologies, codes, regulations.
• Knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 and 1926.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect show areas, exhibits, and rooms for hazards and code violations, document findings and correct violations.
• Issue Hot Work permits for work involving sparks or open flame.
• Register, inspect, document, and manage fees for LVCVA bicycles and carts.
• Conduct monthly visual inspections of fire extinguishers and sprinkler risers; ensure maintenance.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
