Job summary

Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (Griffin Memorial Hospital) is seeking a Fire Prevention & Safety Officer. The role involves inspecting buildings for fire hazards, enforcing safety regulations, and providing security across the hospital site.

Two opening shifts are available: 6:30am–5:00pm and 1:00pm–11:30pm, with non-exempt, full-time status. Minimum qualifications differ by level; Level I requires no specific education, while Level II requires a basic security

Qualifications

• Level I: No education and experience required.
• Level II: Completion of a basic security and/or firefighter’s course, and 2 years of security or fire prevention experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and grounds to identify and correct fire hazards.
• Enforce fire and safety laws, rules and regulations.
• Provide security at Griffin Memorial Hospital and assist employees/visitors.
• Patrol premises to identify hazards and direct traffic as needed.

About the Position:

Incumbents are assigned responsibilities, involving the inspection of buildings and grounds for elimination of fire hazards, enforcement of laws, rules and regulations and providing security at Griffin Memorial Hospital. Typical work duties may include patrolling assigned premises to identify and correct fire hazards; providing assistance to employees or visitors; directing traffic; and performing other duties related to the protection of state property, employees, visitors and others.

• This is a Full-timeshift position
• 2 positions available!
  • Opening 1: 6:30am to 5:00pm
  • Opening 2: 1:00pm to11:30pm
• Annual Salary:
  • Level I : $14.18/hourly
  • Level II : $15.14/hourly
• This position is Non-Exempt

  Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  Level I: No requisite education and experience are required for consideration.
  Level II: Completion of a basic security and/or firefighter’s course, and2 years of experience in security or fire prevention and protection work
  Special Requirements:
• Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of lifting/carrying 60 pounds occasionally, and able to push and pull a maximum force of 30 pounds.
• Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
