Job summary

The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services seeks a Fire Prevention & Safety Officer for Griffin Memorial Hospital. You will inspect facilities for fire hazards, enforce applicable laws, and provide security coordination to protect state property, staff and visitors.

Typical duties include patrolling premises to identify hazards, directing traffic, assisting staff and visitors, and supporting safety operations.

Qualifications

• Level I: No education or experience required.
• Level II: Completion of a basic security and/or firefighter's course and 2 years of experience in security or fire prevention and protection work.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and grounds for fire hazards and enforce laws and regulations.
• Patrol premises to identify hazards and direct traffic as needed.
• Provide assistance to employees or visitors and safeguard state property.

Fire Prevention & Safety Officer

About the Position: Incumbents are assigned responsibilities, involving the inspection of buildings and grounds for elimination of fire hazards, enforcement of laws, rules and regulations and providing security at Griffin Memorial Hospital.

Typical work duties may include patrolling assigned premises to identify and correct fire hazards; providing assistance to employees or visitors; directing traffic; and performing other duties related to the protection of state property, employees, visitors and others.

Job Type/Salary:

• This is a Full-timeshift position
• 4 positions available!
  • Opening 1: 6:30am to 5:00pm
  • Opening 2: 6:30am to 5:00pm
  • Opening 3: 1:00pm to11:30pm
  • Opening 4: 10:00pm to8:30am
• Annual Salary:
  • Level I: $14.18/hourly
  • Level II: $15.14/hourly
• This position is Non-Exempt

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Level I: No requisite education and experience are required for consideration.

Level II: Completion of a basic security and/or firefighter's course, and2 years of experience in security or fire prevention and protection work

Special Requirements:

• Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of lifting/carrying 60 pounds occasionally, and able to push and pull a maximum force of 30 pounds.
• Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
