Job summary

Ripon Consolidated Fire District seeks a Fire Risk Reduction Officer to advance fire prevention, education, and risk reduction in the Ripon community. The role involves inspecting facilities, enforcing fire codes, and delivering clear technical guidance to the public and to colleagues.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate knowledge of fire prevention practices, inspection experience, and strong report writing with excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma, GED or equivalent
• Within 12 months obtain CSFM Fire Inspector 1 Certificate
• Within 12 months complete First Aid and CPR certification
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California Class-C driver license

Responsibilities

• Provide fire risk reduction prevention, mitigation and education information
• Develop policies and procedures surrounding prevention education and risk reduction practices
• Participate and assist in the inspection of buildings for fire hazards and safety systems
• Inspect new commercial and residential buildings for code compliance
• Administer weed abatement program
• Investigate complaints of fire and life safety hazards
• Prepare concise, factual written reports
