Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalency; additional coursework in fire code inspection or related field desirable.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Two years of experience in fire prevention inspection or enforcement of fire-related codes.
• Car seat technician certification required within 18 months of assignment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia EMT certification.
• Completion of state-certified Fire/EMT Basic Training Courses (120 hours) and must be maintained in valid status.

Responsibilities

• Perform fire and life safety inspections and investigations.
• Review and research codes; issue permits for hazardous materials, hazardous processes and public assembly.
• Check building plans for compliance with fire and life safety standards.
• Conduct fire safety education programs; participate in firefighting, EMS, rescue, and hazmat activities.
• Provide technical support to the Fire Marshal.
