Job summary

Coweta County Fire Department seeks a skilled Firefighter/Investigator to perform inspections, investigations, and education for fire safety compliance. You will assess plans, review building codes, and participate in arson prevention efforts while serving the community under supervision.

The role requires knowledge of fire protection codes, code enforcement, and strong communication. Physical fitness and experience with fire prevention activities are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; experience in fire inspection/investigation preferred.
• G.F.S.T.C. certified firefighter with five years of service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Fire Marshal in daily fire prevention operations.
• Review plans and blueprints for new construction and offer recommendations.
• Schedule and conduct inspections of facilities for fire hazards and code compliance.
• Inspect and test fire protection systems and issue CO/COC certificates.
• Conduct fire education, safety training for community and businesses.
• Investigate unsafe structures and fires; collect evidence and interview involved parties.
• Coordinate and review pre-fire plans for the county.
• Maintain inspection records and enter data into the computer database.
• Occasionally respond to fire and accident calls as required.
