Job summary

Coweta County is seeking an experienced Fire Inspector to perform intermediate technical protective service work in fire prevention and investigation. The role involves inspections, code enforcement, and fire safety education under the Fire Marshal's supervision.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, plus GFSTC firefighter certification and substantial experience in fire inspection, investigation, and prevention. Position is on-site with county responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of fire protective services and state/local fire codes.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to operate a computer with various software applications.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Fire Marshal in day-to-day fire prevention operations and activities.
• Assists in plan and blueprint review on new construction with recommendations.
• Schedule, conduct, and administer inspections of facilities for fire hazards and code compliance.
• Inspect and test fire protection installations during construction and at completion; issue CO/COC.
• Conduct fire education, safety training for the department and community.
• Investigate unsafe structures and fires, collect documents and preserve evidence.
• Coordinate and review pre-fire plans for the County.
• Maintain inspection records and reports; enter data in the database.
• Respond to fire/accident calls as required.
