Job summary

Coweta County Commissioners seeks a Fire Investigator/Inspector to perform intermediate technical protective service work in fire prevention and investigation. You will conduct inspections, investigations, and promote fire safety through enforcement of codes and related ordinances under the Fire Marshal's supervision.

The role requires knowledge of fire codes, strong inspection skills, and experience in plan review, fire protection systems, and education programs for the public and businesses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 5 years of GFSTC-certified firefighter experience preferred.
• Knowledge of fire codes, inspection practices, and fire investigation techniques.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; public education experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with plan review, building codes, and reporting is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assists Fire Marshal with day-to-day fire prevention operations.
• Assists in plan and blueprint review for new construction and provides recommendations.
• Schedules, conducts, and administers inspections of facilities for fire hazards and code compliance.
• Inspects and tests fire protection installations; approves CO and COC requests.
• Conducts fire education and training for department and community.
