Job summary

Chesterfield County Fire & EMS seeks a Fire Plans Review Coordinator with knowledge of the Virginia Construction Code and Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code, and excellent communication and teamwork to serve as the primary contact for developers, property owners, and contractors during plans review and inspection processes.

Associate’s degree or equivalent with knowledge of fire protection codes and plan review coordination.
Two years of paraprofessional engineering or related experience preferred.
Ability to interpret building and fire safety codes and manage inspection coordination.

Responsibilities

Assign plans to Plans Review staff per Deputy Fire Marshal guidance and workload.
Serve as primary contact for developers, property owners, and contractors during plan review.
Schedule fire inspections and respond to permit status inquiries.
Contact contractors on job status and inspection times to proactively manage schedules.
Prepare, distribute, and analyze reports on outstanding permits to improve customer service.
Perform other work as required.
