Job summary

City of Georgetown, TX seeks a Fire Permit Technician to provide frontline customer service for fire permits and related activities. You will manage permit intake, track applications, and assist with fee calculations in a fast-paced municipal office.

You will support fire inspectors, coordinate inspections, and help prepare Certificates of Occupancy, all while using standard office software and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; one year of public-facing technical/support experience in building industry preferred.
• An Associate degree or higher can substitute for the experience requirement; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for the Fire Marshal's Office and provide frontline customer service for fire permits.
• Review and process permit applications, ensuring administrative completeness and routing for technical review.
• Assist with fee calculation, payments, and recording of permit-related transactions.
• Coordinate inspections and schedule permit-related activities with inspectors and Fire Marshal’s Office.
• Prepare Certificates of Occupancy for signatures and assist with open records requests as needed.
• Provide general administrative support and maintain department files and records.
