Job summary

You will work under the Fire Marshal, with duties spanning code inspections, plan reviews, and incident response, including recalls and on-call rotations for emergency events.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in fire prevention, suppression and investigation.
• Knowledge of standard fire prevention codes and NFPA standards.
• Ability to perform fire suppression activities and wear respirators (SCBA).
• Ability to supervise and direct others and to communicate clearly in writing and speech.
• Ability to build relationships with officials, professionals, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Inspect businesses, group homes, schools, and construction sites for fire-code compliance.
• Review building plans, issue permits, and inspect work under permits.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with emergency services and law enforcement.
• Conduct fire origin and cause investigations and report findings.
• Provide fire and life safety education to various groups and participate in training.
