Job summary

General Atomics is seeking a Fire Life Safety Specialist for the San Diego, CA area to oversee inspection, testing, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of fire and life safety systems.

The role coordinates third-party vendors, tracks deficiencies, maintains electronic records, and ensures adherence to NFPA standards, IFC/IBC codes, and AHJ requirements while supporting audits and safety programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; military class C school or MOS; five+ years of progressive experience as an apprentice plumber or HVAC mechanic.
• Customer-focused with strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interpret inspection reports, codes, and technical documentation; maintain regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee third‑party vendors performing inspections, testing, maintenance, repairs, and emergency service.
• Manage inspection schedules to ensure compliance with AHJ requirements.
• Oversee inspection, testing, maintenance, repair and service of fire protection systems.
• Review vendor inspection reports for accuracy and code compliance; track deficiencies.
• Maintain organized electronic records of inspections, permits, and certifications.
